WISE Women of Blair County is pleased to announce that they are seeking applications for scholarship assistance. One or more scholarships will be awarded up to a total of $10,000. Deadline for applications is no later than 4 pm on Friday, September 24, 2021. These completed applications must be received by email or US Postal mail to WISE Women at our address of P. O. Box 134, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 or you may submit your application to our email address of [email protected].
Scholarships will be available to Blair County resident females 21 years of age or older who have overcome adversity or discrimination in their lives and who are pursuing post-secondary education. The scholarship is not available for a Masters, Doctorate or a second Bachelor’s degree. WISE Women of Blair County (WISE stands for Women Involved in Scholarship and Empowerment) has granted $20,000 in scholarships each year for women to continue their education. The mission of the organization is to empower women and to eliminate racism through collaboration, service, and education. The mission is fulfilled by providing scholarships, awarding grants, and recognizing outstanding women in our community through the annual Tribute dinner. A total of $10,000.00 was awarded to the following three women:
Jean Jones, who is a student in the Bachelor of Science degree program Nursing with Chamberlain University. Grace Andre, who is a student at West Virginia Junior College in the Clinical Medical Assistant program. Vanessa Ponder, who is a student at Juniata College in the Bachelor degree program for Education. The scholarships are awarded through the Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation.
